GONCOURT (E. and J. de): The Italy of yesterday. Travel notes (1855-1856). Entremélées des croquis de Jules de Goncourt jetés sur le carnet de voyage. Conquet, 1894. Large in-8, red half-chagrin with corners, ribbed spine, gilt head, Cons. cover. Limited edition of 350 copies. 1/200 on vellum (n°343). First edition of these travel diaries published after the death of Jules de Goncourt in 1870. These two brothers, passionate about Italy and in love with Venice, where they spent long periods, produced these travel diaries, illustrated by Jules with 48 black and white sketches and 5 watercolors (including 3 double-page spreads). A fine copy.
