PERROT and CHIPIEZ: Le Temple de Jérusalem et la maison du Bois-Liban restitués d'après Ézéchiel et le Livre des Rois. Hachette et Cie, 1889. In-folio, contemporary red half-chagrin (headbands and spines rubbed, a few wet spots, two tears roughly repaired). . [2], 86, [2] p., [10] plates. A remarkable work by architect and architectural historian Charles Chipiez and archaeologist Georges Perrot, presenting a theoretical reconstruction of the Temple of Jerusalem. The authors interpret their illustrations as a restitution of Ezekiel's vision. The book contains 38 black-and-white illustrations in the text and 10 plates (plates measuring 71.8 x 57.2 cm, with illustrations in various formats). The plates are engraved after drawings by Charles Chipiez, by Guillaumot père (i.e. Auguste Alexandre Guillaumot) and Auguste Hibon. Plate X is a photogravure, signed "Héliog. Dujardin" (Louis Dujardin). Plate XI is a hand-colored lithograph by Joseph Isnard Louis Desjardins, presented as the final work in the "Reflets du Temple" exhibition (Israel Museum, Jerusalem) in 2008-2009.
