Michel Ferdinand D'ALBERT D'AILLY, Duc de PICQUIGNY, then 5th Duc de CHAULNES in 1744, Officer, Astronomer and Physicist, (1714 - 1769) - Autograph letter signed "Le Duc de CHAULNES" Paris January 30, 1751, to M. VILLEPAIL Sous-Brigadier: "Monsieur mon compagnon. I am writing this letter to tell you that the King (Louis XV) has been kind enough to postpone until this year the general review of His entire Household, to give those who have the honor of serving in it time to recover from the expenses incurred by the war. It is His Majesty's intention that you should go to Versailles well mounted on April 25, the day of the General Assembly of the Company, and then pass in review on the day he will see fit to indicate. I hope you will take every care to appear before her, in good arms and horses...". 1 folio page.
