Deputy for HAUTE-MARNE. Beautiful autograph letter (unsigned - Lot 575
Deputy for HAUTE-MARNE. Beautiful autograph letter (unsigned) from Henri Camille TOUPOT DE BÉVAUX (Chaumont 1800 - 1858) Député de la HAUTE-MARNE from 1848 to 1851, addressed to his wife "Madame TOUPOT, à Chaumont (Haute-Marne)", this Thursday, January 18, 1849. 3 pages in-4°. The letter in part, Franchise, from the Post Office of the Chambre des Pairs: "Je suis, Ma chère Amie, entré hier jeudi dans la rue du Colombier.... After taking a cup of chocolate, I made my way to Me Célin's, where I found everyone in good health... Finally I went to the President's, who is in very good health but was at the hearing.... I didn't get out of the Faubourg Saint-Germain today... Madame de Serre is said to be very ill and that her illness immediately followed General DONNADIEU's attack (who died on June 18, 1849)... It is said that little will be done this year in the Chamber and that the major part of the Budget will be pawed over in the meantime. It is said that the old Ministry and even the new ministers no longer agree with the ultras... The June Days Affair (1848) is over, 9 have been acquitted. Only Fayole and Adam were fined and placed under surveillance. It seems that the August Conspiracy case has been adjourned... Farewell my good and tender friend... "
