PRINCE IMPERIAL (Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte, 1856-1879, massacred in Zulu country) / Very important compilation in 3 volumes (200, 200 and 170 p in-folio, 26 x 34 cm), bound in olive basane spine decorated and titled in gold "Napoléon IV", of hundreds of articles about the disappearance of the Prince Imperial: the first volume devoted the first articles in 1878 to the Anglo-Zulu War (Cape War), with the arrival of the Prince in the English army, ("Chez les Zoulous, une entrevue avec le Prince Impérial"), several articles focusing on this people and their customs, then came the first dispatches announcing the death on June 20, 1879, recounting the circumstances, details of injuries, etc.., the repatriation of the body, etc.; the second volume is devoted to the funeral in England, with English headlines, and talks about the "Prince Impérial's authentic will", the third volume is richly illustrated, with engravings reconstructing every stage of the story, from enlistment in the English army, to arrival in Zulu country, the massacre, the Zulus, the funeral, etc.; it also deals with politics and the history of the Imperial Family.It also deals with politics, the consequences of the loss of this Prince's claim to the Imperial Throne, and more. - This is a unique testimony to this episode in history, preserved by a fervent Bonapartist / Enclosed, found in these pages, are an original cabinet-sized photograph of the Prince and a moving envelope marked "Lierre cueilli sur la tombe de S.A.I. le Prince Impérial le 12 juillet 1879" (the envelope having barely been unsealed, the relic is still present): this was the day of the Prince's burial in the Chislehunst cemetery, which shows that the author of these albums was close to the Imperial Family.
