MEDECINE - SYPHILIS - Etienne Georges SARRHOS(born 1823 in Zagorie, Greece, Greek physician) / Copy of his thesis, defended in July 1853 to obtain his doctorate in medicine from the Faculty of Paris, presenting his work on "primitive syphilis" - The first page is dedicated to the memory of his father and mother, his brother Christodule, "aux Manes des Epirotes morts pour l'Indépendance Hellénique", the second is dedicated to his uncle Démétrius Sarrhos, the dedication page is dedicated toDocteur Philippe RICORD(1800-1889, it was he who first described the different stages of syphilis): "It is from the beds of your patients, and from your learned and spiritual lessons par excellence, that I have drawn the materials for this work" - Etienne Georges Sarrhos has affixed his signature in black ink to this dedication page - Beautifully bound, plates decorated and ornamented in gold with inlays of maroon and burgundy chagrins and leather, ornamented gilt ribbed spine, white moiré paper spine boards, with gilt roulette framing, 138 p (20 x 26 cm)
