Paul DEROULEDE(1846-1914, poet and nationalist activist) / Youthful poem (he was 20 years old) written and signed in his own hand, 1 ½ page in-folio (splits at fold and burrs), dated January1867: 7 stanzas of 5 verses each in alexandrines, one of the stanzas has been extensively reworked, with erasures and corrections [In a book, after Déroulède's death in 1914, published by Edition moderne, with a preface by Maurice Barrès, Camille Ducray paid tribute to him with a first biography, a few documents and hors-texte plates, he retained this poem, quoting it in part, saying that it was a "little-known poem which appeared in 1867 and which Déroulède had entitled "Expérience" - These verses appeared in 1867 in "La Revue Nationale" and were never subsequently published (except in part in this tribute by Ducray) - Provenance : Collection Edouard Champion(publisher), the folder has been preserved.
