Nasa. Rangers VII probe: view of the lunar surface a few minutes before impact. The aim of the "RANGERS" mission was to send a probe to the Moon before its intended impact with the lunar surface. It was therefore a purely ballistic control operation. "RANGERS VII" was the first rocket in the program to operate. Prior to ground impact, the aim was to take close-up photographs of the lunar surface in order to study it. The "RANGERS" mission thus provided mankind with the first close-up views of the lunar surface. 1964. Vintage silver print. Nasa logo and typed caption on back. 25.4 x 20.6cm with margins.
