Nasa. Ranger VIII mission. Photograph taken by the camera on - Lot 15
Nasa. Ranger VIII mission. Photograph taken by the camera on the Ranger VIII space probe before impact with the lunar surface. The "RANGER" program was one of the first to give mankind a close-up view of the lunar surface. It consisted of sending rockets to the moon, destined to crash on the lunar surface. Just before impact, a highly complex camera system sent back to earth images taken through on-board television and still cameras. The latter developed the photographs, which were then coded into analog data and transmitted back to earth. February 20, 1965.
Vintage silver print. Nasa logo on back and typed caption on back. 25.3 x 20.6cm with margins.
