Here's a view of the great lunar crater TSIOLKOVSKY, photographed by the astronauts of the APOLLO 8 mission as they became the first humans to experience the lunar surface at such close quarters. THE TSIOLKOVSKY CRATER is approximately 150 miles in diameter. It was first identified by the Russians from photographs taken by their LUNA 3 spacecraft. December 1968. Vintage silver print.
