"His Majesty (LOUIS XVI), always sensitive to the needs of his subjects, and particularly attentive to those of his Farmers, has occupied himself with all the means to alleviate this temporary calamity, and to obviate the unfortunate consequences which could result to the detriment of Agriculture: with this in mind, it has resolved to suspend for some time the execution of the ordinances which forbid grazing and vain grazing in the woods of its Domains; to renew the regulations which tend to reduce consumption harmful to the reproduction of the species; to announce rewards and incentives to encourage people to keep more livestock, and to have more pupils; finally to grant all kinds of aid which it recognizes to be necessary, ...". and Ordinance by AMELOT DE CHAILLOU, Intendant in the provinces of Burgundy, Bresse and Dombes, Bugey, Valromey and Gex.
