VENTE DES BIENS DE LA FAMILLE D'ORLÉANS et CRÉATION DE LA MÉDAILLE MILITAIRE - Decrees issued by the President of the Republic at the PALAIS DES TUILERIES, January 22, 1852 "Considering that all successive governments have deemed it essential to oblige the family which ceased to reign to sell the movable and immovable property it owned in France; On January 12, 1816, Louis XVIII forced members of Emperor Napoleon's family to sell their personal property within 6 months, and on April 10, 1832, Louis-Philippe did the same for the princes of the eldest Bourbon family; Whereas such measures are always in the public interest.Property returning to the State...will be sold in part at the discretion of the administration of estates, and the proceeds distributed as follows...Ten million will be allocated to mutual aid societies...Ten million will be used to improve workers' housing...Ten million will be allocated to the establishment of land credit institutions...Five million will be used to set up a pension fund...The surplus...will be added to the endowment of the Legion of Honor...
