Charlotte VANHOVE, Mme TALMA, French actress (1771-1860) known as Caroline, was the daughter of actors Charles Joseph Vanhove and Andrée Coche. She was a member of the Comédie française. During the French Revolution, she was arrested as a suspect for having remained loyal to the monarchy, and incarcerated in the Sainte-Pélagie prison, for having performed a theatrical performance deemed seditious: Paméla. She was released 5 months later. In 1798, she married François Joseph Talma, one of the most famous actors of his time and a great tragedian. In 1826, on his death, she married the Comte de Chalot - Letter A.S. Written in Paris on January 29 (circa 1850) at 21 rue Joubert, addressed to M. Ouvrard. Signed "Comtesse Talma": The Comte FLEURY having informed her that he was interested in the position of Jules, and wished to come and discuss it with her, she sends him her address and makes herself available for an interview...
