Charlotte VANHOVE, Mme TALMA, French actress (1771-1860) known as Caroline, was the daughter of actors Charles Joseph Vanhove and Andrée Coche. She was a member of the Comédie française. During the French Revolution, she was arrested as a suspect for having remained loyal to the monarchy, and incarcerated in the Sainte-Pélagie prison, for having performed a theatrical performance deemed seditious: Paméla. She was released 5 months later. In 1798, she married François Joseph Talma, one of the most famous actors of his time and a great tragedian.
