NASA. APOLLO 12 mission. Astronauts Pete Conrad and Alan Bea - Lot 74
NASA. APOLLO 12 mission. Astronauts Pete Conrad and Alan Bean approached the Surveyor 3 probe, which had remained intact on the Moon since a previous robotic mission, to retrieve components, including the television camera. This operation is one of the most emblematic technical gestures of the lunar program. In the background, the Intrepid lunar module appears isolated in the immensity of the landscape, underlining the fragility of the human presence in the face of the silent immensity of the lunar soil. This historic scene, the first of its kind, illustrates an extremely precise intervention in a hostile environment, where every movement stands out against a stark, spectacular mineral backdrop. December 1969.period silver print. Approx. 20.4 x 25.4cm with margin.
