NASA. Perfect deployment of the braking parachute of the space shuttle ATLANTIS (Mission STS-86) on Runway 15 of the Kennedy Space Center on October 6, 1997. The space shuttle was docked to the MIR space station, with French astronaut Jean-Loup J.M. Chrétien of the French space agency CNES on board. The shuttle's reactor system is clearly visible here. Vintage chromogenic print on "KODAK" paper. NASA logo and typed caption on back. 20.3 x 25 CM with margins.
