TOULON (83), 5 Germinal An 3 (25 March 1795): "... the deadline set for the re-entry into France of workers and laborers who left after the first of May 1793 (Old Style), expired on the first of the present month; that those who have neglected to benefit from the Law up to this day are deemed to be emigrants, and that, nevertheless, doubts seem to be arising in their regard. The Commandant of the Place, in conjunction with the Municipality, is enjoined to arrest and bring before the Criminal Court of the Department of the Var, any individual brought into this Port, claiming to be French, who does not justify, ... residence on the territory of the Republic, unless he is the bearer of Passports abroad ... from friendly and neutral Governments."
