HAUTES-PYRENEES. TARBES September 12, 1839. Autograph letter signed Bertrand-Sévère LAURENCE (1790 - 1870) Vicar General of TARBES, Director of the Major Seminary. Bishop of TARBES from 1845 to his death, he officially recognized the apparitions of Bernadette SOUBIROUS at LOURDES in 1858. He writes to Mr. GUYOT, printer and bookseller in LYON. 2 pages in-4° + envelope: "Monsieur. I have received in due course the bookshop case... the contents give rise to a few observations...". He notes book errors and disputes prices, asking for a discount. "The St François de Salles has not been ordered... The cash register has been closed without precaution... I expect a word from you at the end of October, when I will be able to settle your bill of exchange...".
