Ottoman Empire / Austria Collection of treaty articles relating to commercial transactions by subjects of the Austrian state in the Ottoman Empire (Avusturya devleti tebaasinin Memalik-i Osmaniyede ticaretlerine ait mevadd-i ahdiyye mecmuasidir). Vienna, Dar tiba al-imberaturiyy (Imperial Printing House, kk Hof- und Staatsdruckerei), 1846. Large in-8° (22.8 x 15 cm), 88 pages. Printed in Ottoman Turkish (i.e., Arabic script), in black with red titles, framed in gilt fillets. Illuminated caption and title, printed in three colors and gilded, in imitation of manuscript illuminations. Gilded post-title. Magnificent green morocco binding with flap, boards decorated with oriental motifs, gilt edges. Presented in a modern Plexiglas case. The complete text of 19 commercial treaties concluded between the Holy Roman Empire and the Ottoman Empire between 1699 (Treaty of Karlowitz) and 1844. The high quality of this magnificent binding indicates that this copy was intended for a high-ranking diplomat.
