Silver and vermeil chalice The inscription in cursive Armenian script at its base can be translated as follows: This chalice was donated in 1642 to the Sourp Kévork Church in Constantinople, in memory of the souls of our brothers from the village of Guedzvagna (????????), both living and deceased. Amen. This chalice is in the pure Armenian style, with a very wide foot. It is decorated with angels in the clouds. Its base is adorned with three medallions depicting the Baptism, the Last Supper, and the Resurrection of Christ, surrounded by grapevines and wheat. The Church of St. George mentioned in the inscription is located in the Samatya district of Istanbul. H: 31.5 cm.
