Lectionary (Ճաշոց) - Lot 201
Lectionary (Ճաշոց) Venice, impr. by Gaspar son of khodja Sarhat of New Djulfa and the priest Tadeos Hamazaspian of Yerevan, 1686-1688. Volume containing pages 141-436 (of 997). Small folio. Title page, numerous ornamental woodcuts in the text and margins. One full-page engraving (Crucifixion) on page 354. Margins trimmed, affecting ornamentation. Wormholes on several pages. Beautiful leather binding with gilding and central medallions (Virgin and Child and Crucifixion), ornate ribbed spine (upper and lower covers damaged), clasps missing. A very fine work financed by the wealthy Sceriman (Shahrimani) family of New Djulfa in Persia, to which Gaspar son of Sarhat belonged.
