Jacques FERRAND, Général de Division, Député de la Haute-Saône, Maire d'Armance (Ormoy/ Haute-Saône 1746 - 1804) - Certificate signed "FERRAND Le Représentant du Peuple, ancien Général Commandant l'Armée du Nord". Paris, 2 Prairial An 5 (21 Mai 1797). 1 page in-4°. He attests that "citizen NIVEL, currently Captain in the retinue of the 70th ½ Brigade, Ex-Adjutant General to the said Army, has fulfilled with zeal and success his important part for which he was responsible, the secret part during all the time I commanded the said army and that he also held under my eyes, a Republican conduct, which earned him my trust and esteem. In witness whereof, I have issued him the present certificate to serve him and be worth what is right."
