Boxing
François RICHEPIN (20th century)
The Match
Oil on canvas, signed lower right, circa 1950
73.5 x 92 cm (small tear and small hole)
A close-quarters battle between the white boxer and his Black opponent. The referee hesitates. Around the ring, bathed in neon light, the crowd is on the edge of their seats. The artist accurately captures the atmosphere of a classic boxing match
