Robert Décremps, known as DÉRO (1920–2000) - Lot 109
Robert Décremps, known as DÉRO (1920–2000) American football, circa 1980 Oil on canvas, signed lower left 98 x 132 cm A running back in red and gold charges forward, ball tucked under his arm, as two defenders in blue lunge at him. Impact, chaos, and hand-to-hand combat: Déro captures all the violence of this American variation on rugby, where combat often takes precedence over the sport itself. A fierce image that encapsulates the best of the painter and caricaturist: movement, color, and power
