Tennis / Antique Equipment F. H. AYRES, London. Victorian tennis racket, circa 1890–1900 Ash-wood racket with an elongated head and convex corner, marked twice near the reinforced shoulders. Finely grooved octagonal handle, leather cap gilded with a hot stamp bearing the mark F. H. Ayres and the recommendation “When not in use, to be kept in a press.” Original gut stringing Length: 67.5 cm; head size: 28.5 x 23 cm (shows wear and damage)
