Olympic Games / Winter-Summer 1936 / Garmisch-Berlin / Owens - Lot 266
Olympic Games / Winter-Summer 1936 / Garmisch-Berlin / Owens / Ruud
"From Garmisch to Berlin (1936)".
Set of 27 captioned silver photographs from the Paris-Soir newspaper
15 x 20 cm
Garmisch: 5 photos / Berlin: 22
From this set stands out a sublime document showing four-time winner Jesse Owens practicing his long jump on the deck of the SS Manhatan, which carried the American team to Germany.
The 5 images of snow and ice (field hockey, Birger-Ruud) and views of the Berlin Stadium plunge us into the heart of the rings: Lovelock on 1500, Lehtinen on 5000, Czek in the pool, Archie Williams, and Beresford, regattas in Kiel, etc.
