TROOPS IN THE DAUPHINÉ. Handwritten discharge order, issued in GRENOBLE (Isère) on January 19, 1692, signed by DUBOIS, the Commissioner of War for the military police of the troops stationed in the Province of DAUPHINÉ, responsible for the care of the King’s hospitals in GRENOBLE, following the certificate issued by the Venerable Brother Romuald the Mute, Prior of the Charity of Grenoble, who oversees the King’s hospital, in favor of Augustin PICCARD, a native of VITRY-LE-FRANÇOIS in Champagne, who was struck by a musket ball in the knees at the Battle of STAFFARDA [Italy—August 18, 1690]. He is permitted to retire to the Hôtel Royal des Invalides.
