AVRANCHES (50). 2 Documents concerning Jean Baptiste LE MAIGNEN, known as DUHAMEL, Captain of Arms of the Duvigné Company, son of Français LE MAIGNEN, Squire, Sieur de la Rüe, a native of AVRANCHES (Manche) in Normandy. He was employed in the arming and disarming of the King’s ships: in 1701 on the ship L’Excellent, commanded by Mr. DESHERBIERS; in 1704 on the *Arrogant* under Mr. ROCHALAR; in 1705 on the *Le Juste* under Mr. BLENAC; and in 1707 on the *L’Indien* under Mr. VOUTRON in Saint-Domingue. Manuscript, 8 pp., in-4°, bound in blue silk, containing excerpts from his register, copies of his attestations and certificates of service, and an excerpt from his baptismal record at St. Saturnin d’Avranches (50). Endorsement signed by François de BEAUHARNAIS DE LA BOËCHE, Counselor to the King in his councils, Intendant of Justice, Police, and Finance in the Generality of La Rochelle, and of the Navy at the Port and Arsenal of Rochefort. He certifies the above copies, Rochefort, April 29, 1719. And a major endorsement by DUVIGNÉ, Captain of the Company bearing his name + endorsement by Sieur SAINT LÉGER LA SAUSSAYE, Captain of the King’s Ships and Major of the Navy at the Port of ROCHEFORT, May 6, 1719. Attached is another contemporary copy concerning him. Rochefort, 1719. 2 pp., in-4°. Both documents bear the seal of the Hozier Cabinet.
