LE FRANC DE POMPIGNAN (Jean-Georges) 1715–1790; Bishop of Le Puy, Archbishop of Vienne. He represented the Dauphiné at the Estates-General; it was he who, on June 20, 1789, led the majority of the clergy into the Chamber of the Third Estate, thereby bringing about the merger of the Three Estates.
