SEVEN YEARS' WAR. Letter from Count LEWENHAUPT (Commander of the ROYAL-BAVARIA) to Headquarters in NEUSTADT on June 27, 1760 (a city in the Prussian States, Saxony). 2 pages, in-4°: He requests a safe-conduct indicating the safest route for the army... “We have arrived and set up camp near this town, two leagues from the enemy, whom we saw yesterday upon our arrival encamped near Treisa; and it is said here that Prince FERDINAND had been here in person, having lodged in this town. You are no doubt aware of the great and welcome news that the Marshal received yesterday via a courier from Mr. de MARAINVILLE, reporting that General LANDON had defeated and destroyed the Prussian army corps commanded by General FOUQUET, and thatonly three thousand of them had escaped. It is also said that letters from Holland report that Mr. de VAUDREUIL had soundly defeated the English in CANADA and had recaptured QUÉBEC. A less significant piece of news we have received from locals is that General LUCNER (LUCKNER) was killed in a light infantry attack in recent days.
