Le NÉBOUZAN. “Deed of exemption from the Censive tax on one sheep and grant of an indefinite right to graze throughout the entire seigneury, in favor of each and every inhabitant of SAINT-GERVAIX (Saint-Gervais-sur-Mare, Hérault) and the Viscounty of NÉBOZON, in exchange for the annual payment of one cheese or sixteen deniers by each man or woman who keeps a flock. ” (Nébouzan is a viscounty created in 1240 by separation from Comminges. It consisted of several enclaves located in the present-day departments of Hautes-Pyrénées and Haute-Garonne.) The following are mentioned: Dieu-Donné De BOSSAGES, Lord of St-Gervaix and of all of Nebozon (Nébouzan). The notaries of Béziers, Olargues, and Saint-Gervaix (Saint-Gervais-sur-Mare). “This title was translated from Latin based on a vidimus (collated copy) issued on February 12, 1420, by the judge of Béziers… from the registers of the notary of St-Gervaix.
