Marie François Henri de Franquetot, Duke of COIGNY, Member of the National Assembly in 1789, Marshal of France in 1816 – (1737–1821) – Letter signed “The Duke of COIGNY” at VERSAILLES, July 1, 1783 – 1p in-8° – (His son Casimir was appointed First Equestrian to the King in 1783): “Please accept, Madam, my heartfelt thanks for the interest you have kindly shown in the favor the King has just bestowed upon my son. Rest assured that I am deeply grateful for the kindness you have shown me on this occasion, as well as for the integrity with which you kindly assisted in arranging the letter of appointment... ” – Enclosed is his portrait, engraved from the painting by Rouget.
