RABODANGE. The estate and seigneury of CULEY-SUR-ORNE (ORNE) was elevated to a marquisate under the name of RABODANGE (July 1649) in favor of Louis de RABODANGE, third of that name. In the 16th century, it belonged to the d’OILLENÇON family—Letter signed by the Count of RABODANGES (Field Marshal, Inspector General of Infantry) With 2 autograph lines—PARIS, September 24, 1783—to the Marquis de LA TOURETTE—1p in-4°: “I received, Sir, upon my arrival on Saturday from my tour, the letter you did me the honor of writing to me, and although I had only a very brief audience with the Minister, I hastened to assure him that he would be making an excellent choice by placing you at the head of a regiment... The promotion is expected at any moment... but it will likely not be announced until FONTAINEBLEAU. However, it is possible that it will not come as soon as the public claims, so you would still do well to have your parents and friends take action... The ISLE DE FRANCE Regiment departs from POITIERS on October 1 to march on CAEN, where it will arrive on the 17th.”
