Marquis de BOUILLÉ (François-Claude-Amour) Clusel 1739–1800—General Officer, Commander of the Three Bishoprics, which included those of Alsace and Franche-Comté. His name is enshrined in a verse of *La Marseillaise*. His involvement in the attempted escape of Louis XVI and his family forced him into exile—Letter signed in Metz (Moselle) on December 29, 1789: “You have informed me of the arrangements you have made with Mr. Chevalier de HARDT regarding the filling in of the Lezay well: I will, therefore, dispatch an engineer to carry out this filling, and I will have him followed by 40 mounted troops intended to join Mr. de Hardt’s detachment to protect this operation...” – 2 pages, in-8°.
