Headquarters at UTRECHT (Netherlands) 29 Fructidor, Year 5 (September 15, 1797) - Letter signed by Gabriel BARBOU D’ESCOURIÈRES (1761–1827) General, Chief of the General Staff of the Army of the North, to General DEJEAN, Commander-in-Chief of the Army—and a reply in Apostille A. from General DEJEAN, along with 4 copies of letters from General CH. A. DARDENNE, Adjutant General commanding North Holland, all certified as signed by General BARBOU—1 large vignette of the Army of the North—6 folio pages - He forwards to him the order and documents concerning the suppression of an insubordination incident in the 2nd Battalion of the 8½th Brigade - The battalion, “quartered at CALLANTZOG, refused upon its arrival in HAARLEM to enter the barracks designated for it. The Battalion Commander … ordered the Grenadier Company to march; it conducted itself impeccably. Upon their refusal to hand over the culprits, the said Company was disarmed and is now held in its entirety in a special prison; the Captain is under house arrest.”
