BALLON. LA ROCHELLE, CHARENTE-MARITIME. Program for the Feast of SAINT-LOUIS, to celebrate the King’s Feast Day. Drawn up and adopted at the City Hall of LA ROCHELLE, on August 21, 1824. Program: A cannon salute; public buildings decorated with the white flag; ships in the harbor and basin will be decked out in festive colors; 3,000 livres of bread distributed to the poor; High Mass at the Cathedral, followed by the singing of a Te Deum; Running races on the Promenade du Mail, public dances, a free theatrical performance; at six o’clock, a balloon will be launched on the Place-d’Armes, followed by fireworks, a procession, and illuminated facades.
