Jean-Baptiste ISABEY (Nancy, Meurthe-et-Moselle, 1767–1855) Miniature painter, watercolorist, draftsman, lithographer, opera set designer, and costume designer - Autograph letter signed “ISABEY” on May 4, 1826, to his friend, the philologist Nicolas-Eloi LEMAIRE, Member of the Legion of Honor and Professor of Latin Poetry, regarding payment for a print: “My friend, you allowed me to send someone to your home to collect the 55 francs you owe me for the framed print priced at 155 francs, for which you paid me 100 francs on April 5, 1826. If my servant finds you at home, he will give you a receipt for the full amount, which you may throw into the fire, since you have been struck from my list of members. Yours sincerely.” 1 page, in-8°
