Charles PERCIER, Architect and Interior Designer (Paris 1764–1838). He was commissioned to design the interior of the Château de LA MALMAISON (92) for the First Consul. From that point on, Bonaparte’s patronage was assured, and he played a major role in the architectural projects carried out during the Empire: the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, as well as numerous projects at the Tuileries and the Louvre. Autograph letter signed “Charles Percier,” dated June 26, 1835, addressed to Mr. de BOUVATIER. 1p in-4°. At the request of his colleague Mr. HERSANT, “one of the most skilled painters,” he wishes to intercede on behalf of the young TRANCHAND, whose mother is seeking a half-scholarship at the Collège Rollin.
