SAINT DENIS (REUNION ISLAND), December 28, 1852. Business le - Lot 653
SAINT DENIS (REUNION ISLAND), December 28, 1852. Business letter signed by MAUREAU and MANES Brothers, Merchants in MARSEILLE. 1 page, in-4°: “We hereby confirm, Gentlemen, your last (letter). Since the LE SERVIN DE LA MATH is somewhat unreliable, your letter reportedly missed the mail ship to Ceylon; we have not fared any better with the October mail bag, which has not yet reached us. These delays may cause us serious trouble... Via the new ship, the NAVIGATEUR from Saint-Malo, we will be sending you 150 bales... So far, we have a favorable outlook on rice for the entire winter season. Our prices will remain stable. MAURICE is on the decline... Sugar is selling easily. Several ships that have set sail have purchased everything available in the immediate vicinity... Buyers seem divided on these new products and are approaching them with some apprehension. The fact is that, in our opinion, these blended sugars are suitable only for grocery use...”
