NASA. LARGE FORMAT. APOLLO 16 MISSION. Sampling site. - Lot 127
NASA. LARGE FORMAT. APOLLO 16 MISSION. Sampling site.
This photograph shows a sampling site explored by the astronauts of the Apollo 16 mission. The visible rocks are ancient lunar breccias, formed during violent meteorite impacts. The astronauts also collected a soil sample from beneath one of the rocks for laboratory analysis. These samples provided a better understanding of how the Moon’s highlands were formed. This image is part of the detailed scientific documentation compiled during the Apollo lunar explorations. 1972.
Post-chromogenic print. Numbered on the front. Caption on a label on the back. 40.6 x 40.6 cm with margins.
