NASA. LARGE FORMAT. "NEW HORIZONS" Interplanetary Mission. Pluto in Enhanced Colors This image of Pluto was captured by the New Horizons spacecraft during its historic flyby. It combines four images from the LORRI camera with colors from the Ralph/MVIC instrument. The enhanced colors reveal differences in surface composition that are invisible to the naked eye. Pluto’s famous “heart” (Sputnik Planitia) is visible, surrounded by mountains, icy plains, and darker terrain. This photograph revealed a surprisingly complex and geologically active world at the edge of the Solar System. 2015. Contemporary chromogenic print.
