Xavier ROUX (1850–1922, serial writer) / Signed autograph ma - Lot 121
Xavier ROUX (1850–1922, serial writer) / Signed autograph manuscript, 5 pages, large 8vo, with cross-outs and corrections; used for printing, hence layout markings. This is a "fantasy" titled "Tous innocents!" published in *La Vie contemporaine* on October 28, 1896: An amusing comedy featuring an investigating judge and a defendant in his office - Following the revelation of certain cases of miscarriages of justice reported in the press, the Minister issued instructions: the judge explains that “our role is no longer to find the guilty, but to discover the innocent” - This leads to a dialogue of the deaf with this murderer from Taitbout Street, who understands nothing and insists in slang that he is guilty, while the judge proves to him that he is innocent!
