Gennady Ivanovich YANAEV or Guennadi IANAÏEV (1937–2010, Soviet statesman; he participated in the Moscow Putsch and served as acting chairman of the State Committee on the State of Emergency (CEEU) from August 19 to 21, 1991, effectively placing him at the helm of the Soviet Union during that brief period; As a member of Gorbachev’s government, he rejected the reforms of Perestroika and Glasnost and, along with other conservatives, organized a coup by abducting Gorbachev and placing him under house arrest, The coup failed, but upon Gorbachev’s return, it led to his resignation and the rise of Boris Yeltsin—it nevertheless marked and sealed the demise of the USSR, paving the way for the proclamation of the Russian Federation) / Hand-signed typewritten letter, 2 pages in quarto format, on letterhead of the Soviet Committee for Youth Organizations (of which Yanaev was the Chairman), Moscow, May 16, 1977, to the animator Jean EFFEL (1908–1982, a communist sympathizer, well known in the USSR for his co-productions of animated films): He informs him of the upcoming “May the Sun Always Shine” International Children’s Festival in Moscow and Crimea; “The International Children’s Festival must become a broadly representative gathering of children from around the world, an event of exceptional importance for the younger generation, for children’s and youth organizations from all countries and continents, and for all friends of children across the globe”; Interest is high, as 150 organizations of various political persuasions from 100 countries are expected to participate - This will fulfill the “noble goals of educating the rising generation in the spirit of peace, friendship, humanism, national independence, and social progress, and in the struggle to translate the UN Declaration on the Rights of the Child into reality”; During the opening ceremony, messages from world-renowned figures, government representatives, cultural leaders, scientists, and scholars will be read aloud; these messages will also be published in the press; "In light of your significant personal contribution to the just cause of striving for a happy future for humanity, and your work, which has earned widespread international recognition, we would be grateful if you could find the opportunity to send the Committee of Youth Organizations of the USSR a message of greeting for the International Children’s Festival.” Very rare
