PHYSICS - Georg Simon OHM (1789–1854, German physicist) - In - Lot 269
PHYSICS - Georg Simon OHM (1789–1854, German physicist) - In 1827, Ohm published “Die galvanische Kette, mathematisch bearbeitet,” on the electrical phenomena produced by the natural contact of two or more bodies; this study was not printed or translated into French until 1860 by the physicist Jean-Mothée GAUGAIN (1810–1880), under the title “Théorie mathématique du circuit galvanique” / Manuscript, 40 folio pages (in sheets of 4 pages each), reproducing Ohm’s theory in its entirety in French; the mastery of the numerous calculations presented suggests that this manuscript, which is clearly from that era, is, if not written by Gauguain himself, at least by a close collaborator who was a physicist (rough edges on the sides and stains)
