GERMANY – WORMS – Dr. Johann Friedrich EICH (1812–1879, German politician, prominent figure in the city of Worms, member of the Hessian Parliament, Worms owes its development to him thanks to the construction of the bridge over the Rhine and the establishment of the railroad; a theologian, he was responsible for the Luther monument in Worms) / A very significant collection of 62 signed autograph letters, totaling 230 pages in-8, dated from 1844 to 1860, addressed to Count Louis de Cambacérès (1832–1868, grandnephew by marriage of Napoleon I), affectionate letters in German; Eich was in England when the correspondence began, living at Kingsgate with Captain Digby; the young Louis was 12 years old (perhaps Eich had been his tutor for a time before taking up his position as a professor in Worms after earning his doctorate), the correspondence continued faithfully year after year; Eich sent several documents as attachments (articles from the *Wormser Zeitung*, of which he was an editor, publications about the Luther Monument, etc.)—This long friendship provided a chronicle of Worms spanning more than 15 years
