Letter from VERSAILLES (78), December 2, 1752, to the Count of MAUGIRON—1 folio page—regarding the purchase of a cavalry regiment: “The King having resolved to pay off the debt owed to the Cavalry Regiments as the opportunity arises, and following the death of Mr. de COLLANDE, Field Marshal and Lieutenant of the Royal Piedmont Cavalry Regiment, which leaves His Majesty free to dispose of the regiment’s funds, He has decreed that you shall receive... the sum of 22,500 livres from the funds to be deposited by the Marquis de GAMACHE, who has obtained approval for this...”
