Camille Louis de LORRAINE, Sovereign of BÉDEILLE, Prince of - Lot 115
Camille Louis de LORRAINE, Sovereign of BÉDEILLE, Prince of MARSAN, Marquis of MIRAUBAN, (1725–Paris 1782) Lieutenant General of the Province and County of PROVENCE, of the Cities of Arles, Marseille, Toulon, and Adjacent Lands— (the Château de MARSAN is located in the Gers) — Letter A.S. “The Prince of MARSAN,” to Mr. De LA TOUR, First President — January 1774 — 2pp in-4°: “... At last, then, our former and illustrious magistrates have yielded to the wishes of our province. The joy of the Provençals was so genuine and so pure that it was their hearts alone that acted and quenched the fervor of their minds. Everything went, Sir, just as you could have wished. Much joy and much decorum. We must hope that this will continue, and I am quite sure that you will spare no effort to ensure it does... I hope, Sir, that you will be so kind as to send me the minutes of what took place upon your return as soon as they are printed. You know how much interest I take in this, and I assure you that my heart was with you during this most interesting moment...”
