Jean Dominique FAVEREAU (Versailles, 1755 – Blaye, Gironde, 1832) General in 1793 – Army of the Sambre and Meuse. Letter signed “Major General FAVEREAU” (letterhead, beautiful vignette engraved by Cardon) at Headquarters in Aachen on the 22nd of Prairial, Year 3 (June 10, 1795) – 1 page, in-4°: The administration of LIMBOURG complains about the conduct of soldiers. He wrote to General JOURDAN: “It is impossible for me, given the small number of troops at my disposal, to ensure good order… All acts of harassment are being committed by troops on missions, of whom I am unaware. If any troublemakers resort to excesses, have them arrested… I will punish them with all the justice that characterizes a republican.”
