Jean Charles PICHEGRU (Arbois, Jura, 1761–1804), a general in 1793 and a deputy, took part in the Cadoudal conspiracy - Letter signed PICHEGRU, Commander-in-Chief – at Headquarters in STRASBOURG (Bas-Rhin) on the 24th of Messidor, Year 3 (July 12, 1795)—To the Commander of the Garrison at SARRE-LIBRE (Revolutionary name for SARRELOUIS in Germany): “I am sending you, Citizen Commander, a statement sent to me by General AMBERT detailing the expenses incurred for the destruction of the enemy’s fortifications in the Deux-Ponts region. ” He requests that these expenses be paid from the proceeds of the sale of the timber from the brushworks that supported those same fortifications… ” 1 folio page – (This document has been repaired to address water damage; there are a few missing sections, and the signature has been preserved)
