An intriguing autograph letter signed “DARCY” of Paris, 30 rue Guénégaud, dated 8 Fructidor, Year 9 (August 26, 1801), addressed to General TOUSSAINT LOUVERTURE in SANTO DOMINGO, concerning genealogical research on the Beauplan or Cressonnier Beauplan family from the Marmelade neighborhood in Santo Domingo. He asks him for copies of documents, noting that “Communication with this colony is not currently unrestricted…”. 3½ pages, in-4° format.
