DIGNE (04) on the 11th of Frimaire, Year 12 (Dec. 3, 1803). 3 pp., in-4°, to Deputy Mayor Jean RAFFIN: “You know, my dear RAFFIN, how much I regretted that the strains of a long term in office and the need to attend to your own affairs—which you had been forced to neglect in order to manage those of your municipality—compelled you to request your replacement. I will not forget—you can be sure of that—the zeal with which you carried out your duties and the successful results that followed. I would always be ready to express to the government my complete satisfaction with your administration. I recently received a letter from the Minister of the Interior who seems to fully approve of the objection I raised regarding the promissory notes signed by some residents of MANOSQUE as collateral for the municipality… I was about to submit my decree to the government for a decision, even though the outcome is as we desire.
